Aikido is a martial way that seeks to strengthen and unite the internal and external aspects of the practitioner. In a physical or violent altercation, the goal of Aikido is to achieve a peaceful outcome for the practitioner and the opponent.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an adaptation of Judo which was often referred to as “Kano Jiu-Jitsu” and is based on taking an opponent to the ground, finding a dominant position, and forcing the opponent into submission. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has gained widespread popularity and is widely used in Mixed Martial Arts when contests are taken to the ground.
Hapkido is a hybrid Martial Art that is characterised by its diverse set of techniques and circular movements. The Martial Art focuses on both long-range and close-range fighting techniques and its syllabus consists of a variety of weapons. Hapkido, like Aikido, was adapted from Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu. Principles such as redirection of force, which is also integral to Aikido, are an important part of this Martial Art.
